We have a large selection of Hybrid Point of Lay pullets. Our hybrid hens are a result of selective cross breeding of traditional breeds to make the best egg laying hens.
We have a colourful selection of hybrid pullets to suit everyones choice, all of our hybrid pullets are kept together, so you can select a colourful flock with peace of mind that your hen's can be kept together. Many of our hybrids lay a variety of coloured eggs such as light and dark browns, whites, blues, greens & pastels.
Our hybrid pullets are reared to a higher standard than that set by DEFRA and other Governing Bodies. Our pullets are reared to produce strong and healthy pullets for free-ranging and are vaccinated against the majority of serious poultry diseases and varient strains. Our hybrids start their vaccinations at day old until they are 16 weeks old. Please click here for a list of vaccinations that our hybrid pullets receive.
Hybrids are great for new and experienced keepers, they are friendly and are easily tamed, they are easy to manage and adapt well to most set ups, especially backgarden and most importantly they lay lots of fresh tasty eggs, so they are a firm favourite choice for first time chicken keepers.
Our hybrid pullets are available from 17 weeks old. This is also know as point of lay (or POL), this is a term used for when the pullets can start laying eggs from, but it is usually around 22-26 weeks old, once the pullets have settled into their new home that they produce a first egg.
Hybrids have been bred to lay lots of eggs so once they start, you can be guaranteed lots of tasty fresh eggs.

We know how important it is to get things right when starting off keeping chickens. We offer an excellent service to our customers and are happy to go through all of the basics and answer all the questions you may have. This is why we offer an appointment system, so we can dedicate time to customers if needed. We are happy to go through all of the basics, such as feeding, health care, housing & protecting from predators, cleaning our and husbandry and how to handle your chickens. We are happy for you to bring along all of your family so everyone can play a part in choosing the hens and learn how to care for them.
Choosing your new hen's and wing clipping
Once you have picked your hen's from our flock, we will catch them for you and you are more than welcome to inspect the hens over and learn the best way to handle them. We also offer a free wing clipping service and we are happy to show you how to do this for future reference. Wing clipping is a useful thing to do for new backgarden hen's, basically it is just clipping their primary flight feathers on one side and this will prevent them from jumping over any fences. It doesn't hurt the hen and new feathers will grow back once they have gone through a moult.
How to transport your new hen's
When you collect your hen's please bring a suitable carrier box with you. A standard sized cat carrier will hold 2 point of lay hybrid pullets. With this in mind - if making up cardboard box, please use this size as reference. Please make sure your box has adaquate ventiliation and floor material (eg. newspaper/shavings) and if you are using a cage (eg. dog crate), please bring a blanket to put over the cage so the hens do not get spooked in transportation. We sometimes have boxes available if you are stuck in finding any suitable ones.
